What's a responsible business leader to do? Perhaps the slowdown already has made an impact on your company. Or maybe you can see it coming but aren't sure exactly when and how it will hit. In either case, the most important thing is to keep your wits about you and not succumb to five common mistakes companies often make when times get tough.

1. Be smart and thrifty, but don't panic. This, too, shall pass.

2. Marketing is muscle, not fat . Be careful about cutting it.

3. Don't lose focus by chasing business you wouldn't normally want.

4. Don't discount.

5. Don't neglect the elephant in the room.

Also, Jamie was selected as one of interior design’s top stars to participate in Metropolitan Home’s Showtime House as part of a groundbreaking print and television partnership. For two months this past fall the public had access to Greek Revival townhouse at 23 Gramercy Park South where the design talent of  Vincente Wolf, Tori Golub, Laura Kirar, Amy Lau, White Webb, Kirsten Brandt and Jamie Drake (amongst others) was on display. All proceeds from the house went to benefit the Happy Hearts Fund.
