Do you have a lot of ideas and little
time to implement them? Even with the best intentions and some
actionable goals for the new year, chances are that your schedule
is not significantly more tolerant of the time commitment needed
to make goals a reality. So, divide (read organize) and conquer
(read delegate)! |

Whatever the need is, whether operational
(accounting software, contracts, rate structures), marketing
(new website, direct marketing campaign, attract different clients),
or personal (more time on self, at the gym, reading for inspiration),
you need to identify the tasks that you must do yourself and
ones that someone else can do for you. Sole-Proprietors in particular
must learn the meaning of the word “outsource” if
they are to expand their universe in any way. |

Your highest and best use is as
an artist, designer, conceiver of new concepts. All of the detail
work can be done by others, often better and faster, and at
less expense to you. How is this so? If you focus on doing the
creative work which is billable at a high hourly rate or design
fee and the business development (networking), your time will
yield you over $100/hr after expenses (I know this is simplified,
but just work with me here!). Most operational and marketing
related items can be outsourced for $25-50/hr, leaving you a
profit on the difference between what you earn and what you
pay. |

Most interior design professionals
fail to consider the value of their time. Once you free your
time to focus on your passion, you will earn more money through
better projects, higher efficiencies, and anything else that
you have resolved to implement in 2006. Remember, divide (organize)
and conquer (delegate)! You don’t have to do this alone,
if you still have questions about how to accomplish this, you
can reach me directly at 646.541.7624. Lloyd |
